CNN Hero Meets Students: CNN Hero of the Year Pushpa Basnet came to campus in December to share her experiences, meet students and answer questions about her globally recognized work with the children of prison inmates.

Basnet, 29, founded a children’s home and organization in Kathmandu where children who would otherwise live in prison with their incarcerated parents receive education, food, medical care, and a chance for a more normal life.

Basnet told WhiteHouse students that she was only an average student in her school days, but that her drive for success led her to achieve her goals through hard work and dedication. She began her organization seven years ago, when she was barely older than many students at WhiteHouse who hope to follow in her footsteps as a social entrepreneur. Basnet is one of many leaders and high achievers who meet with students at WhiteHouse and share their secrets of success.

Basnet was chosen as Hero of the Year through a nine-week public vote on CNN.com. The college and students are raising funds to assist her in helping the children of prison inmates. 

Himalayan WhiteHouse Int’l College welcomed in the new batch of students for BBA/BLAS
2012 whilst also bidding adieu to students from the 2008 intake. The function
was organized at Amrit Bhog Party Palace, Dillibazar on March 29th, 2013. We
felicitated a total of 71 students with Mr. Anup Rayamajhi from BBA and Ms.
Samyak Moktan from BLAS being the Mr. and Ms. WhiteHouse 2012. Isha  K.C. was declared the best Student of the Year 2012. The event also featured music and dance, students and faculty members
were tapping their feet in tune.

The 12th Anniversary Cum Plus2 Farewell was conducted on April 15th, 2013. The
program was graced by CPN (UML) Leader KP Oli, as the Chief Guest.
Some other guests were the former Education Secretary & Senior Advisor to the
college, Mr. Shankar Pandey and Senior Advisor, Dr. D.R. Kafle. The EMBA/MBA
Director, Mr. Shambhu K. Dahal and the BBA & BLAS Director, Mr. Govinda
Setti, also joined the event along with Director, Mr. Krishna Siwakoti, Director,
Mr. Jaya Ram Khanal and Head of the Studies BBA/BLAS, Mr. Homraj Acharya. Edessa
Ramos and Lucia Bustabad Lagoa, as new associates, also joined the occasion to
celebrate our 12 years long journey. We bade farewell to our 11th Plus2 Batch
of Science and Management.
The President & CEO, Yuvraj Sharma, distributed Token of Love to the students. The
Chief Guest to the program, KP Oli, and other dignities gave away the awards
and certificates to students, faculties and staff. The Senior Advisor to the
college, Dr. Kafle, was felicitated on the occasion for his 12 years'
association and special contribution to the college. Students
from BBA and Plus2 presented cultural programs, songs and musical events.
